ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Regional Office III officially launched the first mall-based YAKAP Clinic in Central Luzon at the Soliman-Paroli Eye Center located inside Newpoint Mall Angeles, marking a significant step toward expanding access to primary healthcare services.
The launch took place during the Labor Day celebration dubbed “YAKAP para sa Manggagawa, YAKAP para sa pamilyang Pilipino,” held at Nepo Mall Angeles.
The mall-based YAKAP Clinic aims to bring essential healthcare services closer to the public, particularly workers and their families, by situating medical access points in convenient, high-traffic locations.

Around 100 employees from Soliman-Paroli, JDN Realty Group, Newpoint Mall, and Nepo Mall participated in the event, along with senior citizens and mall-goers. Beneficiaries availed of a wide range of services, including PhilHealth registration, record updating, ID distribution, and health screenings. Initial patient consultations, prescriptions, and free medicines were also provided under the YAKAP program.
In addition, government services such as issuance of birth and marriage certificates and identification cards were facilitated by the Philippine Statistics Authority.
The milestone initiative was made possible through the collaboration of key stakeholders led by PhilHealth Acting Vice President Ma. Emily P. Roque and Acting Branch Manager Rowena S. Zabat-San Mateo, along with Robert C. Pardon, Head of PhilHealth Angeles.
Also instrumental in the program were Jonathan Soliman-Paroli, CEO-President and Lead Surgeon of Soliman-Paroli Eye Center; Aaron B. Montenegro, President and CEO of JDN Realty; Dr. Penelope Nalo of PS Nalo Family Health Care Clinic; Maria Rima C. Hernandez of the Department of Labor and Employment; Maria Virginia R. Olvena; Dr. Francisco Villanueva Jr., representative of Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr.; Angeles City Vice Mayor Amos Rivera; and Councilor Jessel Dayrit.
PhilHealth emphasized that the YAKAP program will continue to expand across malls, communities, and provinces to ensure that Filipinos have easier access to quality primary care and health benefits when they need them most.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to bring healthcare closer to every Filipino family,” PhilHealth said, underscoring the importance of sustained collaboration among government agencies and private partners in improving public health access.
