CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The observance of Labor Day on May 1, 2026 across Central Luzon was generally peaceful, with no major untoward incidents recorded, according to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3).

PRO3 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Jess B. Mendez attributed the orderly conduct of activities to early planning, coordinated deployment, and the cooperation of the public and participating groups.

In support of national security efforts, PRO3 deployed 1,000 personnel under Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) to the National Capital Region. This included 966 frontline personnel and 34 support elements responsible for logistics, administrative, and medical functions, drawn from various units such as the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Provincial Police Offices, City Police Offices, and other regional support units.

To ensure operational readiness, 650 CDM personnel were placed on standby for immediate augmentation, while an additional 484 personnel under the Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) remained on call, bringing the total standby strength to 1,134 personnel.

Further enhancing security measures, PRO3 established 40 border control points across Central Luzon—13 regional and 27 provincial—manned by 331 personnel to monitor movement and help maintain public safety.

“We have laid out our security plan for this event, and at the same time, we have personnel ready to be dispatched for CDM duties in the National Capital Region anytime the need arises,” Mendez said.

He also reiterated his directive for all deployed personnel to exercise maximum tolerance and uphold human rights during lawful assemblies.

“I also reminded all PNP contingents to observe maximum tolerance and uphold human rights at all times,” he added.

Mendez expressed his appreciation to the public and rally participants for their cooperation, which contributed to the peaceful observance of Labor Day in the region.

PRO3 reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and order while ensuring that public safety operations remain aligned with the Philippine National Police’s thrust of delivering fast, honest, and responsive service to the public. (Jason de Asis)
