SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — New Asahi Group Subic Trading Corp. has opened a P50-million expansion facility at the Tipo Hightech Eco Park (THEP), strengthening Subic’s position as a hub for the importation, trading and rebuilding of commercial vehicles and heavy equipment.
The new facility, inaugurated on Sept. 21, 2026, occupies 5,231.60 square meters and is expected to generate 25 additional jobs as the company expands its operations in the Freeport.
The investment comes amid sustained activity in the trucking and heavy equipment sector within the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, where major locators continue to bring in trucks, machinery and other capital equipment through the port.
“The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) takes great pride in developments like this. A Freeport’s strength lies in the enterprises that choose to invest, expand, and remain within its borders,” SBMA Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliño said.
Aliño said New Asahi Group’s decision to consolidate its sourcing, importation, reconditioning, fabrication and after-sales operations under its Apex Trucks brand in Subic reflects investor confidence in the Freeport’s business environment.
The new facility will handle the importation, exportation, transshipment, warehousing, rebuilding and trading of trucks, buses, heavy equipment and industrial machinery.
New Asahi Group Subic Trading Corp., operating under the Apex Trucks name, specializes in the dealership and importation of commercial vehicles, particularly reconditioned Japanese trucks, as well as heavy equipment and industrial machinery.
Its operations also cover the storage and wholesale trading of new and used spare parts and accessories.

The inauguration was attended by Aliño; New Asahi Group Chairman and CEO Ahamed Mohamed Mohamed Hussain; President Shukry Hussain; COO Riza Nazeer; SBMA Senior Deputy Administrator for Business and Investment Barney W. Lee III; and Olongapo City Mayor Atty. Rolen C. Paulino Jr., who led the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Representatives of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Philippines, along with Xantheng (Subic) International Corp. (XSIC) President Simon Su and XSIC Vice President for Operations Kelly Uy, also attended the event.
The expansion adds to Subic’s growing commercial vehicle and heavy equipment trade, with the Freeport continuing to handle truck and machinery imports through its major locators.
The SBMA’s Trade Facilitation and Compliance Department maintains registration and compliance requirements covering trucks, heavy equipment and other regulated goods, supporting efficient port operations and government revenues.
The continued movement of non-containerized and bulk cargo, including rolling heavy machinery and break-bulk shipments, also reflects sustained trading activity involving capital goods in the Freeport.
For SBMA, the New Asahi Group expansion underscores the role of long-term locator investments in generating jobs, expanding commercial activity and strengthening Subic’s position in the regional logistics and heavy equipment trade.
