SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Pampanga provincial government has released ₱2.59 million in financial assistance to residents needing medical support and emergency shelter assistance, as the provincial government expands its response to health and disaster-related needs.
The assistance totaled ₱2,593,013.90, comprising ₱1,863,013.90 in medical assistance from the Governor’s Office and ₱730,000 in Emergency Shelter Assistance administered by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
The medical assistance covered residents requiring treatment, including 45 patients diagnosed with leptospirosis and three patients with dengue.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda led the distribution of the assistance.
One of the beneficiaries, Rochelle Dela Cruz of Consuelo, Macabebe, said the financial support provided relief to her family after she was unable to report for work for nearly a month due to their circumstances.
The assistance comes as provincial authorities continue to allocate resources for social protection, particularly for residents facing unexpected medical expenses and losses brought by weather-related incidents.
The provincial government said its assistance programs are intended to provide immediate financial support while helping affected families cope with medical and emergency expenses.
Also present during the distribution were 2nd District Board Member Fritzie David-Dizon, Atty. Claire Lim, 4th District Board Member Dr. Kaye Naguit and PSWD Officer Fe Manarang.
The latest release underscores the role of provincial social assistance in cushioning the financial impact of illness and disasters on households, particularly those whose income is disrupted by medical emergencies or damage to their homes.
For beneficiaries like Dela Cruz, the assistance provides temporary financial relief while they recover from circumstances that have affected both their health and livelihood.
