MANILA — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is urging members to take advantage of its Z Benefits Package, which provides comprehensive health insurance coverage for catastrophic illnesses requiring expensive and specialized medical treatment.
The program is part of PhilHealth’s continuing efforts to improve access to quality healthcare while reducing the financial burden on Filipino families facing life-threatening illnesses.
Under the Z Benefits Package, PhilHealth covers treatment for several major diseases and complex medical procedures, including breast, colon, cervical, rectal, and prostate cancers; kidney transplantation; Peritoneal Dialysis (PD); Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL); care for premature and small newborns; Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) surgery; and selected orthopedic implant procedures involving the hip, arm, wrist, foot, and other eligible body parts.
The expanded health benefits are expected to help improve treatment outcomes by enabling qualified members to receive timely medical care from accredited Z Benefits Providers without incurring overwhelming out-of-pocket expenses.
PhilHealth said eligible members diagnosed with covered illnesses are encouraged to consult the nearest accredited Z Benefits Provider to determine their eligibility and begin the process of availing themselves of the benefit package.
The state health insurer continues to strengthen its benefit offerings in support of the government’s Universal Health Care program, ensuring that more Filipinos have access to quality and affordable healthcare services, particularly for diseases that require long-term and high-cost treatment.
Patients and their families may obtain additional information on accredited providers, eligibility requirements, and benefit packages by visiting the PhilHealth website at www.philhealth.gov.ph or by inquiring at the nearest PhilHealth office.
