CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — More than 165 solo parents from across Central Luzon gathered on April 15, 2026 to celebrate “Solo Parent Day 2026,” an initiative led by PhilHealth Region III in partnership with the Central Luzon Solo Parent Federation (CLSPF), Inc. and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Held at Lola Ima Cuisine and Restaurant, the event carried the theme: “You are not alone in your journey; YAKAP at Kalinga for solo parents,” emphasizing solidarity, support, and access to essential services for solo parent families.

The program was spearheaded by PhilHealth Acting Vice President Atty. Ma. Emily P. Roque, together with Acting Branch Manager Dr. Rowena S. Zabat-San Mateo, CLSPF Regional Chapter President Feni Evangelista-Santos, and DSWD Division Chief Czar Cornelius R. David.

Participants were briefed on key healthcare programs and services, including PhilHealth’s YAKAP and GAMOT initiatives, as well as the benefits provided under the Expanded Solo Parent Act. These efforts aim to strengthen health protection and social support for solo parents and their children.

Dexter S. Maglalang, Head of PhilHealth Membership Section A, underscored the importance of ensuring that solo parents have access to reliable healthcare coverage. He noted that beyond providing information, the activity also sought to empower participants, encourage active engagement, and build a supportive community among solo parents.

Attendees actively participated in the program and expressed appreciation for the assistance extended by PhilHealth and its partner organizations. One solo parent shared that access to PhilHealth services eased concerns about medical expenses, allowing them to seek treatment without financial burden.

PhilHealth Region III reaffirmed its commitment to expanding inclusive healthcare programs and strengthening partnerships to better serve vulnerable sectors, particularly solo parents, across Central Luzon.
