BAGUIO CITY — The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) recognized Major General Joseph Norwin D. Pasamonte, PA, Commander of the 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division, Philippine Army, for his distinguished military service and exemplary leadership during a Testimonial Parade and Review held on August 15, 2026, at the Tirso G. Fajardo Memorial Grandstand, Fort General Gregorio H. del Pilar.
Maj. Gen. Pasamonte was among 10 general officers honored by the Academy for their significant contributions to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). He also received the Outstanding PMA Alumnus Award (Ulirang Alumnus ng Akademiya) in recognition of his distinguished career, leadership, and accomplishments in military service.
A member of the PMA “SAMBISIG” Class of 1991, Pasamonte assumed command of the 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division on November 20, 2024. As the Division’s 33rd commander, he led the unit in fulfilling its mandate to promote peace and security while supporting the welfare of communities within its area of responsibility.

The award recognizes Pasamonte’s career as an embodiment of the Academy’s core values of Courage, Integrity, and Loyalty, demonstrated through years of professional and dedicated military service.
The ceremony formed part of PMA’s 127th anniversary celebration themed, “PMA @ 127: Forging Leaders of Character while Transforming into a Globally Competitive Defense Learning Institution.” The theme underscores the Academy’s continuing mission to develop leaders of character and competence capable of responding to the evolving demands of national defense.
The recognition also highlighted the enduring connection between PMA and its alumni, whose accomplishments in the field reflect the discipline, leadership, and professionalism fostered by the Academy.
For Pasamonte, the honor affirms a career anchored on service, leadership, and commitment to duty, while reflecting the lasting impact of PMA’s values in shaping military leaders dedicated to serving the Filipino people with honor and distinction.
