SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — In celebration of Labor Day, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Labor Department successfully conducted its annual job fair on May 1, 2026 at Harbor Point Ayala Mall, drawing hundreds of job seekers and dozens of participating companies.

The one-day event featured approximately 6,500 job vacancies offered by 60 companies operating within the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, providing a wide array of employment opportunities across various industries. The initiative aimed to connect job seekers directly with employers while supporting the manpower needs of Freeport locators.

A total of 307 applicants registered during the job fair, composed of 166 women and 141 men. Through on-site screening and interviews conducted by participating companies, 33 applicants were hired on the spot (HOT), highlighting the effectiveness of the event in facilitating immediate employment.

Applicants expressed optimism as they engaged with recruiters and explored available positions, while employers welcomed the opportunity to efficiently identify qualified candidates. The presence of multiple companies in one venue allowed for faster processing and increased chances of employment for job seekers.

SBMA Labor Department Manager Atty. Melvin Varias emphasized that the annual Labor Day Job Fair is part of its continuing efforts to promote employment, support economic growth, and strengthen workforce development within the Subic Bay Freeport and nearby communities.

With the positive turnout and results of this year’s job fair, SBMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustain similar initiatives that create opportunities and improve the livelihood of Filipinos.
