San Fernando, La Union — Demonstrating the Department of Health’s continued commitment to strengthening health services for individuals recovering from substance use disorders, Atty. Randy B. Escolango, Ph.D., Undersecretary of the Department of Health (DOH), visited the Department of Health Treatment and Rehabilitation Center – La Union (DOH TRC-LU).
The visit highlighted the DOH’s ongoing efforts to enhance treatment and rehabilitation programs nationwide and ensure that facilities such as TRC-LU remain responsive to the needs of communities they serve. During his visit, Undersecretary Escolango engaged with the center’s leadership and staff to gain deeper insights into the facility’s operations, current initiatives, and the challenges and accomplishments experienced in delivering quality rehabilitation services.

Undersecretary Escolango emphasized the critical role of Treatment and Rehabilitation Centers in addressing substance use disorders through compassionate, evidence-based care. He reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to strengthening rehabilitation services and ensuring that individuals seeking recovery receive comprehensive and accessible healthcare support.
The discussions also explored opportunities for strengthened collaboration, improved resource support, and policy enhancements that could further elevate service delivery and patient outcomes. These initiatives aim to reinforce the public health infrastructure within the TRC-LU catchment area and contribute to broader national health goals.
The visit served as an opportunity to recognize the dedication of the TRC-LU workforce, whose commitment continues to support recovery, healing, and reintegration for individuals undergoing treatment.
