“This incident highlights the importance of public cooperation and awareness in wildlife conservation and protection. We encourage the public to immediately report wildlife sightings and allow our trained personnel to properly handle wildlife and ensure their safety,” Manalili said.
Although not classified as endangered, the Brown Hawk Owl plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance, particularly in controlling insect and small animal populations.
Meanwhile, DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo reiterated the agency’s call for continued public support in protecting the country’s wildlife. He urged citizens to report any incidents of wildlife trade and other illegal activities to authorities, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen biodiversity conservation.
The DENR continues to remind the public that safeguarding wildlife is a shared responsibility, and timely reporting can help ensure the protection and survival of various species across the region.
