OLONGAPO CITY — More than 250 volunteers from various sectors joined a coastal cleanup activity spearheaded by Aboitiz Renewables and the Olongapo Solar Power Plant on May 19, 2026 at Parola, Barangay Kalaklan, aimed at promoting environmental protection and community participation.
The cleanup drive was conducted in partnership with the local government of Olongapo City, Barangay Kalaklan, Olongapo City Police Office, Olongapo City Bureau of Fire and Protection and volunteers from different barangays across the city. Participants collected waste and debris along the shoreline as part of efforts to help preserve the coastal environment and promote environmental awareness.

According to organizers, the activity forms part of the company’s continuing commitment to support clean and sustainable communities in Olongapo.
“We are here today for a coastal cleanup together with our LGUs in Olongapo, Barangay Kalaklan, and volunteers from different barangays,” said Micaela Buendia of Solar Project Development Manager, Project Development-Solar Aboitiz Renewables Inc. “This is one of our programs to help the community maintain a clean environment and become a partner for a clean and vibrant Olongapo.”
The company also highlighted its ongoing community development initiatives, which include medical and dental missions previously conducted in Barangay Santa Rita, as well as future projects focused on health, safety, and education.
Among the plans being considered are the construction of a school and the implementation of additional community-based programs that will benefit residents in Olongapo.
Organizers expressed gratitude to the volunteers, local officials, and residents who supported the activity and reaffirmed their commitment to continue programs that promote environmental protection and community welfare.
