NEW CLARK CITY, TARLAC — Around 1,200 high-skill jobs are expected to be generated in Central Luzon following Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ planned expansion at Clark International Airport, marking a major boost for the country’s aviation workforce and economic growth.
The German aviation giant is investing in a new aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility in Clark, a development welcomed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the state visit of German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The project is expected to create employment opportunities for Filipino engineers, aircraft mechanics, technicians, and other aviation professionals, while further strengthening the Philippines’ position as a competitive player in the global aerospace industry.
Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua M. Bingcang said the investment underscores international confidence in the country’s skilled workforce and Clark’s growing importance as an aviation and industrial hub.
“Lufthansa Technik’s decision to expand in Clark is a strong endorsement of the Philippines, our workforce, and the strategic advantages of Clark as an investment destination,” Bingcang said.
He added that the project will open doors for Filipino talent while contributing to the long-term growth of the country’s aviation ecosystem and generating economic opportunities for communities across Central Luzon and beyond.
Industry observers view the investment as a significant step toward enhancing local capabilities in aircraft maintenance services, a sector that requires specialized expertise and offers high-value employment opportunities.
With the establishment of the new facility, Clark continues to attract world-class investments that support job generation, technology transfer, and economic development, reinforcing its role as one of the country’s fastest-growing centers for aviation and advanced industries. (The BCDA Group)
