CLARK FREEPORT — The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is pushing the Luzon Economic Corridor as a key platform for attracting high-value investments and strengthening the country’s industrial base.
BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang said the initiative would help link major urban and industrial centers, including Metro Manila, Batangas and Central Luzon, to support the growth of high-tech manufacturing, logistics and innovation industries.
Speaking at the third-quarter general membership meeting of the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation Inc. (SEIPI), Bingcang underscored the need for closer coordination between infrastructure development and the country’s industrial priorities.
He cited BCDA’s flagship developments, particularly New Clark City and the Clark Freeport Zone, as strategic areas that can support the expansion of the semiconductor and electronics industries and other high-value sectors.
“The countries that succeed in the 21st century will be those that can seamlessly connect ports, airports, talent, infrastructure, and industry into a unified economic machine. That is exactly what the Luzon Economic Corridor is designed to do,” Bingcang said.
The Luzon Economic Corridor is envisioned to improve connectivity among key economic hubs by linking infrastructure, industrial areas, transportation networks and investment centers.
Bingcang said the coordinated development of these areas would help facilitate the movement of goods and people while providing industries with access to modern infrastructure and a skilled workforce.
The SEIPI meeting brought together government and private-sector leaders to discuss emerging plans and innovations, developments in the semiconductor and electronics sectors, and infrastructure requirements needed to sustain industrial growth.
BCDA said continued government-industry collaboration would be essential in aligning infrastructure investments with the needs of businesses and enhancing the Philippines’ competitiveness as an investment destination.
The agency also emphasized the role of strategic developments in Central Luzon in supporting the country’s broader industrialization agenda and creating opportunities for high-value economic activities.
