MARIVELES, BATAAN — In a proactive effort to cushion the impact of economic challenges and the looming monsoon season, AboitizPower private limited partnerships GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD) launched Project KiloWatt last July 9 to 10, 2026.
The two-day outreach program reached 2,000 beneficiaries across the coastal and agricultural barangays of Alas-asin, Sisiman, and Baseco Country in Mariveles.
The program targeted the municipality’s most vulnerable sectors, primarily local tricycle drivers, fisherfolk, and farmers, providing each household with 10 kilograms of rice to assist in their immediate food security.
Unlike traditional relief distributions, Project KiloWatt was designed as a dual-action resilience initiative. Recognizing that true community strength lies in self-reliance, GMEC and GNPD partnered with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Mariveles to integrate life-saving knowledge directly into the distribution process. Alongside receiving rice provisions, beneficiaries attended an Emergency and Safety Preparedness Talk conducted by MDRRMO representative Junjie llegue.
The sessions equipped residents with practical, actionable knowledge on localized disaster preparedness, immediate family safety protocols, and emergency response strategies ahead of the peak typhoon season.
