PALAUIG, Zambales — The Alpha (Warriors) Company of the 69th Infantry (COUGAR) Battalion joined the nationwide celebration of the 2026 Philippine Arbor Day by participating in simultaneous tree-planting activities across the municipalities of Iba and Sta. Cruz, Zambales on June 25.
Led by 1LT Alex B. Paz (INF) PA, Company Commander, the soldiers took part in the environmental initiative in support of this year’s Philippine Arbor Day theme, “Inspired by Nature: For Climate, For Our Future.” The activity aimed to promote environmental conservation, climate change mitigation, and the restoration of the province’s natural resources.
In Iba, the tree-planting activity was spearheaded by Mayor Irenea Binan in partnership with various government agencies and stakeholders. Meanwhile, in Sta. Cruz, the initiative was conducted through the collaborative efforts of Eramen Minerals Inc., the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), people’s organizations, and barangay officials.

More than 1,000 seedlings of various hardwood tree species were planted in designated sites during the simultaneous activities. The reforestation effort is expected to contribute to biodiversity conservation, watershed protection, and long-term climate resilience in the province.
According to the 69th Infantry Battalion, the participation of Alpha Company reflects the Philippine Army’s continued commitment to environmental stewardship alongside its mandate of ensuring peace, security, and sustainable community development.
By working hand in hand with local government units, private organizations, and community stakeholders, the Alpha (Warriors) Company reaffirmed its support for programs that protect the environment while fostering stronger partnerships toward a safer, greener, and more resilient Zambales.
