CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Department of Trade and Industry Regional Office 3 reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and protecting consumers during the conduct of its First Semester 2026 Virtual Kapihan with media partners across Central Luzon.

The online briefing gathered DTI regional and provincial officials, members of the media, and representatives from partner agencies to discuss key accomplishments, ongoing programs, and upcoming initiatives focused on trade promotion, consumer welfare, and enterprise development.

DTI Region 3 Regional Director Edna Dizon said the agency continues to work closely with stakeholders, local government units, and the private sector to ensure that programs and services reach entrepreneurs and consumers throughout the region.

Despite the virtual setup due to ongoing renovations at the DTI Regional Office, Dizon assured media partners that the agency remains active in implementing initiatives that promote economic growth and strengthen business competitiveness in Central Luzon.

During her message, Dizon reported that prices and supply of basic necessities and prime commodities remain stable across the region despite recent adjustments in suggested retail prices (SRP).

She noted that DTI provincial offices have intensified market monitoring and enforcement operations to ensure fair pricing and sufficient supply of essential goods for consumers.

The agency also presented updates on major trade promotion activities, including the region’s participation in the International Food Expo (IFEX), regional trade fairs, and halal industry development programs designed to expand market opportunities for local MSMEs.

DTI officials emphasized the growing importance of halal certification as demand for halal products continues to increase both locally and internationally.

In support of MSMEs affected by economic challenges and fuel price increases, the Small Business Corporation introduced several financing programs that entrepreneurs may access.

These include financing windows for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), export-oriented enterprises, women-led businesses, SME recovery programs, and electric transportation modernization initiatives.

The regional office also encouraged the public to visit and support the ongoing Cordillera Negosyo Agraryo Trade Fair at Marquee Mall, which showcases products from agrarian reform beneficiaries and local entrepreneurs from various regions.

According to DTI-3, strengthening partnerships with media organizations remains vital in promoting government programs and ensuring that accurate and timely information reaches the public.

The virtual Kapihan likewise featured presentations from the SME Development Division, Consumer Protection Division, Industry Development Division, and provincial offices highlighting their accomplishments and priority activities for 2026.
