OLONGAPO CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Zambales, through its Consumer Protection Division, conducted a briefing on May 13, 2026 for hardware owners and construction supply retailers in Olongapo City on the implementation of the Project METRO Fair-Trade Law App.
Project METRO, which stands for Monitoring, Enforcement & Tracking Resource Online, is a digital compliance system jointly developed by DTI Zambales and Gordon College – College of Computer Studies.
The initiative aims to strengthen consumer protection and improve fair trade law enforcement through the use of digital technology. The system is designed to assist government agencies in conducting market inspections, monitoring business compliance, and enhancing public service delivery.

According to DTI Zambales Provincial Director Enrique Tacbad, the digital platform will help make enforcement operations more efficient, transparent, and fully digitized, allowing regulators to streamline inspection processes and improve monitoring of business establishments.
During the briefing, participants from the hardware and construction supply sector were oriented on the features and functions of the application, including its role in ensuring compliance with fair trade laws and consumer protection regulations.
DTI Zambales emphasized that Project METRO reflects the agency’s commitment to innovation and modernization in government services while promoting responsible business practices and protecting consumer welfare.
The agency also encouraged business owners and retailers to cooperate with the implementation of the system as part of efforts to foster fair competition and strengthen trust between consumers and businesses in the province.
