BALER, Aurora — Newly appointed Provincial Board Member Mae Ann K. Tolentino-Mendoza began her first day in office on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, as a member of the 16th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aurora.
In a post, Tolentino-Mendoza described the day as the start of a “new role, new duty, and new responsibility,” beginning with a blessing from Father Israel Gabriel.
Among her first official activities were courtesy calls on Aurora Governor Isidro “Sid” Galban and Vice Governor Patrick Alexis Angara, who welcomed her to her new role in the provincial government.
Tolentino-Mendoza also attended her first session as a provincial board member and met with her fellow Sangguniang Panlalawigan members and staff.
She likewise reunited with members of the “Serbisyong Bukas Palad” family as part of her first day in office.
Her first day came a day after her formal oath-taking on Sept. 7 at the House of Representatives in Manila, where she took her oath before Aurora Lone District Representative Rommel Rico T. Angara.
Angara earlier congratulated Tolentino-Mendoza and expressed hope that she would continue the public service legacy of her late father, former Aurora Governor Reynante A. Tolentino.
Meanwhile, Vice Governor Angara welcomed her to the provincial board, saying, “Welcome sa 16th Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Aurora, Bokal Mae Tolentino-Mendoza!”
Tolentino-Mendoza was appointed to fill the vacant provincial board seat representing Aurora’s first district.
In her message following her oath-taking, Tolentino-Mendoza said she accepted the responsibility with humility and gratitude and vowed to continue what her father had started in public service.
Tolentino-Mendoza is the sister of Board Member Yam Tolentino and one of the children of the late former governor.
Her inaugural session on Sept. 7 concluded at 7:42 p.m., marking the beginning of her work as a member of the provincial legislature. (Jason de Asis)
