OLONGAPO CITY — The City Government of Olongapo strengthened its commitment to the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on July 2, 2026, at Olongapo City Hall for the establishment of an OFW Help Desk, bringing government services closer to migrant workers and their families.
The initiative is a joint undertaking of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Olongapo, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Zambales, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Zambales.
Once operational, the OFW Help Desk will serve as a one-stop center where aspiring, departing, returning, and existing OFWs can access government assistance, including employment guidance, welfare services, skills training referrals, reintegration programs, and information on safe and legal overseas employment. The facility will also extend support to the families of OFWs by providing easier access to relevant government programs and services.

Mayor Atty. Rolen C. Paulino Jr. lauded the collaboration among the participating agencies, describing the initiative as a significant milestone in improving public service delivery for migrant workers.
“Congratulations sa ating lahat! Maraming salamat po sa inyong pagtutulungan para mas mapalakas ang suporta sa ating mga OFW at kanilang pamilya. Malaking hakbang po ito para mas mailapit ang serbisyo ng gobyerno sa ating mga OFW. Layunin po nitong matiyak na may sapat silang gabay at suporta mula sa atin bago umalis at habang nagtatrabaho sila sa ibang bansa,” the mayor said.
The establishment of the OFW Help Desk reflects the city’s continuing efforts to protect the rights and welfare of its overseas workers while promoting responsible migration. Local officials said the partnership also strengthens coordination among national government agencies in delivering timely, accessible, and comprehensive services to OFWs, recognizing their vital contribution to both the local economy and the country’s development through their remittances and hard work abroad.
