San Marcelino, Zambales — Sixty-two senior high school students from this town have officially joined the first batch of beneficiaries under the 2026 Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), following an orientation and contract signing held on April 16.

The activity was spearheaded by Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager and Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator EnP. Floralyn Ramat Mendoza, along with SPES Coordinator Norman Ragadio, with full support from Mayor Elvis Ragadio Soria.

Mayor Soria underscored the local government’s commitment to supporting the educational needs of the youth through initiatives like SPES, which provide students with opportunities to earn while gaining valuable work experience.

The SPES program, implemented by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with the Municipal Government of San Marcelino, aims to assist students in financing their education.

Under the program, the beneficiaries will render 20 days of work, with 60 percent of their wages shouldered by the local government and the remaining 40 percent provided by DOLE.

Mayor Soria likewise extended his appreciation to DOLE for its continued collaboration and support in delivering programs that uplift students and their families in the municipality. (San Marcelino Public Information Office)
