SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), through its Business and Investment Group (BIG), showcased the Subic Bay Freeport’s growing role as a premier maritime and shipbuilding hub during the 11th Edition of the Philippines Marine Exhibition and Convention (PHILMARINE 2026), held from June 17 to 19 at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City.

Led by BIG Senior Deputy Administrator Renato Lee III and Department Manager Karen Magno, the SBMA delegation engaged with key stakeholders, investors, and industry leaders to promote the Freeport’s strategic advantages and investment opportunities in the maritime sector.

The participation builds on the momentum generated by SBMA’s successful engagement during the Second Maritime Forum and Posidonia 2026 in Athens, Greece, where the agency attracted significant foreign direct investment (FDI) interest and strengthened international business connections.

As one of the country’s leading economic zones, the Subic Bay Freeport continues to position itself as a key destination for maritime investments, leveraging its world-class port facilities, strategic location, and highly skilled workforce.

PHILMARINE 2026 is recognized as the Philippines’ premier and only specialized maritime, shipbuilding, and offshore energy event. The exhibition highlights the country’s status as the world’s fourth-largest shipbuilding nation and serves as a platform for discussing advancements in the maritime industry.
