IBA, Zambales — Authorities seized illegal drugs, a firearm, and ammunition during the implementation of a search warrant operation conducted by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) in Purok 1, Barangay Dirita, Iba, Zambales on Monday evening.
The operation was carried out by a team from the PDEU, led by PLT Michael Rey N. Bernardo, under the directive of Provincial Director PCOL Benjamin P. Ariola. The team was assisted by personnel from the Iba Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Provincial Intelligence Unit.
During the search, operatives recovered approximately 7.6 grams of suspected shabu from the residence of the suspect, with an estimated street value of ₱51,680 based on the standard drug price. Authorities also confiscated one caliber .45 firearm and seven rounds of ammunition.
The suspect, identified as a drug personality, is now in the custody of the Iba MPS and is facing charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
PCOL Benjamin Ariola emphasized that the arrest marks another step in holding individuals accountable for drug-related offenses. He also noted the significance of recovering the firearm, which could have potentially been used in other criminal activities.
“We assure the public that our intensified campaign against illegal drugs and criminality will continue,” Ariola said.
