BALER, Aurora — The 91st Infantry (SINAGTALA) Battalion, Philippine Army joined the Municipality of Baler in commemorating the 128th Philippine Independence Day through a flag-raising ceremony held at the Baler Municipal Plaza on Friday, June 12.

The program was led by Vice Mayor Denise Alyanna D. Angara and attended by representatives from various government offices, law enforcement agencies, and security sectors. Among those present were Police Major Donna Fe M. Galban, Chief of Police of the Baler Municipal Police Station; Ms. Evelyn R. Leander, Acting Human Resource Management Officer; Sangguniang Bayan Member Julius Ceazar D.T. Grefalda, Chairperson of the Committee on History, Culture and Arts; and Lt. Col. Michelangelo G. Ramirez, Acting Commanding Officer of the 91st Infantry (SINAGTALA) Battalion.

The ceremony opened with a patriotic rendition performed by Lia Briney E. Mostoles, serving as a tribute to the sacrifices of Filipino heroes who fought for the country’s freedom.

In her message, Vice Mayor Angara underscored the importance of remembering the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes and preserving the spirit of nationalism through unity, responsible citizenship, and love of country.

Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Ramirez emphasized that the freedom enjoyed by Filipinos today was achieved through the courage and sacrifices of past generations. He called on citizens to value, protect, and uphold the ideals of independence for which the country’s heroes fought.

The event concluded with a symbolic balloon release representing freedom, hope, and the continued appreciation of the nation’s history and identity.

Through the activity, the Municipal Government of Baler and the 91st Infantry (SINAGTALA) Battalion reaffirmed their commitment to promoting patriotism, preserving the legacy of Filipino heroes, and inspiring future generations to uphold the values of freedom and nationhood. (Jason de Asis)
