Subic Bay Freeport Zone – Reinforcing its commitment to workplace safety and disaster resilience, employees of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority actively joined the Second Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held across the country on June 18, 2026.

The drill, conducted at SBMA Administration Buildings 229 and 255, placed emphasis not only on procedural compliance but also on evaluating the real-time readiness of personnel to respond under pressure during seismic emergencies.

Led by national disaster authorities, the exercise was spearheaded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense, as part of a broader effort to institutionalize a culture of preparedness across government agencies and economic zones.

Unlike routine compliance drills, this activity tested coordination between building occupants, safety marshals, and emergency response units, focusing on response timing, communication efficiency, and decision-making under simulated crisis conditions.

Participants underwent structured evacuation procedures and accountability checks at designated assembly points, while emergency teams assessed gaps in response flow and communication lines that could be improved in actual disaster scenarios.

Officials underscored that continuous participation in nationwide drills is essential in building adaptive, response-ready institutions—especially in high-risk areas such as Subic Bay Freeport Zone, where both industrial operations and dense workforce populations require heightened safety protocols.

The activity forms part of the government’s ongoing push to transition disaster preparedness from periodic training into a sustained operational discipline embedded in everyday workplace culture.
