OLONGAPO CITY — Aboitiz Renewables, Inc., the renewable energy arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation, provided 510 sacks of rice to 2,040 families in Olongapo City as communities continue to recover from weeks of flooding brought by Typhoons Luis and Maymay and subsequent monsoon rains.
The relief assistance reached families in Alibang, Papaya Gala, Mampueng, Tralala, Maliwakat, and Iram, where many residents depend on farming root crops, fruits, and vegetables for their livelihood.
The rice distribution was conducted in coordination with the City Government of Olongapo and Olongapo City Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative Barry B. Esteban to help ensure that assistance reached families affected by the prolonged rains.
One of the beneficiaries, Miriam Lamyo, an Indigenous Peoples community member from Tralala, Gordon Heights, said the rice assistance provided much-needed support to her family of seven children as they recover from the impact of the successive storms.
“We stand with our host communities, especially during difficult times,” said Sharron Manzano, Stakeholder and Permitting Manager at Aboitiz Renewables.
Manzano emphasized that the company continues to work closely with local government partners to respond to community needs, particularly during emergencies.
Aboitiz Renewables said it will continue coordinating with local government units in its host communities to help ensure that relief assistance reaches affected families promptly during times of need.
