CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Several former members and supporters of organizations linked to the communist insurgency have voluntarily surrendered and withdrawn their support for the movement in various parts of Central Luzon from June 16 to 18, 2026, signaling continued progress in the government’s peace and reintegration efforts.

The development was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), partner security forces, local government units, and community stakeholders, which encouraged individuals to return to the fold of the law and embrace a peaceful way of life.

Among those who surrendered were former Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members identified as “Ka Jun” from Bataan and “Ping” from Aurora. Both voluntarily turned themselves in and surrendered firearms and other war materiel. In Tarlac, a former member of Alyansa ng mga Manggagawang Bukid sa Asyenda Luisita (AMBALA), known as “Paco,” also withdrew his support and surrendered a homemade firearm.

Authorities also reported that several individuals formally renounced their affiliation with organizations associated with the communist movement. These included “Boyong” from Pampanga, four members of DAMAKKA in Nueva Ecija, ten members of the Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid (LMB) in Guimba, Nueva Ecija, and former members of ANAKPAWIS in Olongapo City.

According to PRO3, the successful engagements resulted from sustained community outreach programs, dialogue initiatives, and intelligence-driven operations under the government’s whole-of-nation approach in support of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

Police Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez, Regional Director of PRO3, said the increasing number of individuals choosing peace over armed struggle reflects growing public trust in government programs and the collective efforts of communities and stakeholders in addressing the root causes of insurgency.

“These individuals made a courageous decision to leave behind conflict and choose a better future for themselves and their families. Their decision shows that lasting peace is possible when government agencies, local leaders, and communities work together. We remain committed to helping them rebuild their lives and become productive members of society,” Mendez said.

The regional director added that the initiative aligns with the Philippine National Police’s commitment to delivering “Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman” by bringing government services closer to communities and strengthening programs that promote peace, development, and public safety.

Following their surrender, the former CTG members and supporters underwent proper documentation procedures and received initial assistance, including food packs and other forms of support under the government’s reintegration program.

PRO3 continues to encourage remaining CTG members and supporters to abandon violence, return to their communities, and take advantage of government programs designed to help them build peaceful, productive, and sustainable lives. (Jason de Asis)
