Iba, Zambales – A new sustainability initiative in Zambales is turning plastic waste into opportunities for students, as the CASHCYCLED Project, “Turn Your Plastic into Project,” officially rolls out its first collection drive.

On March 25, 2026, Foo Chi Trading and Resources, Inc. led the initial collection of recyclable materials across four pilot districts: Subic, Castillejos, San Marcelino, and San Antonio. The activity marks the project’s first major step in promoting environmental responsibility while directly supporting school programs.

The initiative is backed by a multi-sector partnership involving the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Zambales, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Ecology Center, the Department of Education (DepEd) Zambales, and Foo Chi Trading and Resources, Inc.

Funds generated from the collected recyclables will be channeled into participating schools to support student consumer awareness efforts and environmental projects, reinforcing both sustainability and education at the grassroots level.

Stakeholders highlighted that the program not only addresses plastic waste management but also empowers students to take an active role in environmental conservation, setting the foundation for long-term community impact.

With its successful pilot run, the CASHCYCLED Project is expected to expand its reach, encouraging more schools and communities in Zambales to participate in building a cleaner and more sustainable future.
