SUBIC, Zambales — The Community Fire Auxiliary Group (CFAG) of Barangay Ilwas clinched the championship title in the inaugural Subic Barangay Fire Olympics held March 27 in Pamatawan.
The event, organized by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Subic Fire Station in collaboration with the Subic Public Order and Safety Office (SPOSO), gathered fire auxiliary teams from seven barangays: Pamatawan, San Isidro, Cawag, Ilwas, Mangan-Vaca, Calapandayan, and Asinan Proper.
Fire personnel and community responders competed in three firefighting skill-based events: Hose Laying and Replacement of Busted Hose, Flammable Liquid Fire Extinguishment, and Bucket Relay.
Barangay San Isidro posted the fastest time in the hose laying event, while Barangay Calapandayan led the flammable liquid fire extinguishment category. Barangay Asinan Proper, meanwhile, topped the bucket relay event.
Despite strong performances across categories, Barangay Ilwas secured the highest overall score to take home the championship. Barangay Calapandayan finished as first runner-up, followed by Barangay Cawag as second runner-up.

Each participating barangay fielded a 10-member team composed of local officials and personnel.
The activity was spearheaded by Municipal Fire Marshal SFO4 Ramon Gutierrez and Deputy Municipal Fire Marshal SFO2 Dennis Ellaso, in coordination with SPOSO officials Romeo Hernandez and John Carlo Ramos.
A highlight of the event was the muse competition, where Pheachy Rose Morados of Barangay Cawag was crowned Ms. First Subic Barangay Fire Olympics. Cheervel Arizala of Mangan-Vaca was named first runner-up, while Hannah Rose Trinidad of San Isidro placed second runner-up.
Representing Mayor Jon Khonghun, Councilor Ryan Gonzales attended the event and commended participants for their dedication to strengthening fire prevention and emergency response efforts at the community level.
