ARAYAT, Pampanga — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Pampanga provincial officials conducted a joint inspection of major infrastructure and flood control projects in Arayat to strengthen coordination and accelerate the completion of long-delayed developments in the municipality.
Leading the inspection were DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon and Pampanga Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, together with key regional and local government officials.

Among the projects inspected was the ongoing bridge construction in Barangay San Agustin, which officials said is targeted for completion within five months. The bridge project had reportedly faced delays for more than eight years due to unresolved right-of-way concerns.
Secretary Dizon thanked the local government for its cooperation in resolving issues that previously stalled the project, saying the strong partnership between national agencies and local officials is helping speed up infrastructure implementation in the province.
Also present during the inspection were Board Member Dr. Kaye Naguit, DPWH Central Luzon Regional Director Arnold Ocampo, Pampanga 1st District Engineer Alfie Lejarde, PGENRO head Arthur Punsalan, Pampanga PPO Director PCOL Eugene Marcelo, and Arayat Vice Mayor Ramon Changcoco.

Vice Governor Pineda emphasized the importance of cooperation among barangay officials, municipal leaders, the provincial government, and DPWH in addressing the effects of flooding and soil erosion in vulnerable areas.
The inspection also covered the collapsed dike in Barangay Candating, where officials are considering nature-based solutions to help protect nearby communities from flooding. In Barangay Cupang, authorities ordered the immediate acceleration of sheet piling works for an ongoing flood control project to prevent further damage to homes and infrastructure.
Officials said the continuing collaboration among government agencies aims to strengthen disaster resilience, improve public infrastructure, and ensure the safety of residents across Pampanga.
